Day 4 & 5 Troon

Well we woke up on day 4 to sunshine which was very uplifting after the poor weather we have been having. We made the most of it by having a coffee sitting outside in the sun at the Bosun's Table, the cafe at Largs Marina. However all good things must come to an end and the promised rain showers loomed on the horizon as we went back to the boat to resume our travels to Troon. On the way to the boat we stopped at the shop to get some oil and met the owner's dog Coy, an adorable ginger and white Springer Spaniel, who goes to work with them. More doggie stories later.

Our trip from Largs to Troon was uneventful, with showers but otherwise the weather was not too bad. We saw a couple of porpoise and a seal popped its head up to say hello as we entered Troon harbour. The inevitable downpour happened as we put the covers down to moor up, but other than that all went well.

When we got to Troon and went  up to see the harbour master, he was just starting his 14 hour night shift, with his dog, Obi-Wan Kenobi, a lovely chunky golden Labrador. He does the night sift with his owner and has 8 or 9 walks during the night and he loves it. So if we hear doggy footsteps in the night it is Obi-Wan checking all is well.

I'm hiding, don't tell Josh you have seen me.
The boat owners here obviously have a sense of humour!

Day 5  5 June - we are having a rest day.  We caught the train to Irvine for some shopping and then on the way back I had a swim in the Troon swimming pool. I love swimming and it always cheers me up. Scotland has some good pools and every town seems to have one. Troon's is a sweet little 4 lane pool but nevertheless the lanes were a good sized 25m. Feeling much refreshed after my swim, on the walk back through the town I popped into a wool shop and made friends with another doggie, Cooper.
Dinner booked tonight in Scott's, a rather up market restaurant chain found at Larg's and Troon Marina's.
Tomorrow the plan is to sail to Girvan so watch this space.
