We awoke to a strange noise in the morning, it wasn’t raining!
For the first time since we arrived four days ago it was not raining and it didn’t rain all day, not a single drop. Things are looking up!
We made a start at 12.30 after a street food burger from the amazing
Jaxx caravan on the dock. He told me the weather over the last few days was a
normal summer in the west of Scotland!

Goodbye to James Watt Dock and the iconic crane! |
We had an uneventful trip to Largs but it was slow, despite
having the tide with us, finally mooring at 17.50 (a 19 nautical mile trip averaging 3.6 knots.) Josh thinks there may be some weed on the bottom of the hull and on the rudder so we rang ahead to Largs to see if we could have a lift out of
the water and have the bottom washed off. We are booked in tomorrow morning (Sunday) for a lift out and a pressure wash of the hull so Lunar Sea will have a nice clean bottom for the rest of the trip.
It was overcast and chilly but the sun did peep out now and
then. We saw an array of ships on the way from a huge cruise ship to some small
racing dinghies.

We also had a visit from a couple of porpoise about a mile off the marina entrance which was enchanting.
We had a warm welcome at Largs and decided to visit the
Sailing Club as they were hosting a Topper weekend. We managed to blag our way to
getting some delicious hot food, as there was a surplus to what had been laid on for the visitors. We discovered a local beer called Bitter and Twisted which we both enjoyed and watched the
Champions League Final on the TV. Josh, being a Liverpool supporter, was very happy
at the result. We went back to the boat for an early night. As it turned out it was a very stormy night so not much sleep in the end due to heavy rain, squeaky ropes and other storm related nautical noises!
