The Lunar Sea Adventure Resumes

Part two of our around UK sailing trip starts tomorrow. Our boat name translates as lunacy, which is what I am beginning to think is an apt name for this trip. We arrived back at the boat on Wednesday evening. She has been moored at James Watt Dock in Greenock, near Glasgow, since summer of 2017 when we finished the first leg of our journey. For those of you who followed part one of our adventure you will know how awful the weather was then. Well I am not pleased to say it is the same today. It has rained incessantly since we got here. Here I am in wet weather gear including wellies. That is not a smile on my face it is a grimace!

We have had some lighter moments! Some friends came to stay on Wednesday night, they were visiting from California and were staying with relatives of theirs in Edinburgh, so they decided to drive over and meet us and stay the night on the boat. So thank you Carol and Ken for braving a night on Lunar Sea, which for various reasons was a sleepless affair with Ken ending up on a very narrow bunk at 4 a.m. trying to get some sleep due to various nautical boat-related noises.  We had joked that they were on the midnight to 4 a.m. watch but actually it turned out to come true to an extent. You are now both honorary lunatics.

Today we had to take the hire car back to Glasgow so on the way I insisted we stop at the Braehead shopping centre where there is a Krispy Kreme store and I cheered myself up with a cup of coffee and three doughnuts.

Yes that is how bad it is! Rain rain and more rain, cold and wet in general. As everyone keeps saying, it can only get better. If it doesn't I am going to come back very fat!
